This page describes sources of funding for community projects in Cambridgeshire.
National
GRANTnet. A free to use funding search website, provided by the GRANTfinder database. Holds details on over 4,000 initiatives, including grants from the European Commission, UK Government, local government, and corporate sponsors and charitable trusts.
Lottery Funding. Lottery Funding is a joint website run by all Lottery funding bodies in the UK. It allows you to search information on current lottery funding programmes across the UK. There is a search facility based on the amount of money being sought.
WREN. Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd provides grants under the terms of the Landfill Communities Fund, formerly the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme. It aims to enhance the social environment, natural conservation and heritage aspects of the world in which we live.
Cambridgeshire
Cambridgeshire Community Foundation is an independent charity which gives grants to local good causes that make a real difference to the quality of life for people in Cambridgeshire. Grants typically range in size from £250 to £5,000 and are awarded to local voluntary groups for their work with people of all ages and all aspects of social and community needs.
Cambridge
Cambridge City Council offers a wide range of grants for community organisations. Categories include: Community Development, Leisure Sports & Arts, Disability Access Fund, Economic Policy, Sustainable City, Historic Buildings, Council Residents' Associations, Tenants' Initiative Schemes, and Safer City. There are schemes of both mandatory and discretionary business rate relief. There are also environmental improvement grants administered by Area Committees.
Cambridge Univeristy Active Community Fund. Cambridge University receives money from the Higher Education Funding Council to promote volunteering amongst its students and staff. Since 2002 it has distributed nearly £600,000 to volunteer projects.
East Cambridgeshire
East Cambridgeshire District Council offers a wide range of community development grants. The smaller grants are administered through the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation. Other schemes include Community Facilities Grants and Grants to Voluntary and Community Organisations.
Fenland
Fenland District Council offers grants to voluntary organisations. As well as supporting community projects, it organises a range of district-wide initiatives. These include the Community Development Funding Toolkit, Organisational Development Toolkit. Fenland Youth District Council and the Fenland Golden Age Fairs.
Huntingdonshire
Huntingdonshire District Council. Capital grants and grant aid for voluntary community groups. Currently the Council can allocate approximately £15,000 in grants to organisations and community groups.
South Cambridgeshire
South Cambridgeshire District Council offers facility and project grants. Capital grants are aimed at improving community buildings. Community Projects Grants enable local community groups to plan, develop and implement community development projects.
