This page describes the volunteering opportunities at hospitals in Cambridgeshire.

Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge

Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust. Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust, formerly the Friends of Addenbrooke's, assists the hospital through fundraising activities, donations, legacies, and volunteering. Volunteers are particularly needed for help at fundraising events.

Addenbrooke's Hospital Voluntary Services. Volunteers at Addenbrooke's Hospital provide an invaluable service, and are a great asset. They help make life easier for both patients and their families, by supporting our staff in providing a direct service to patients, or by helping out behind the scenes. Each year, 700 volunteers give up their free time on a regular basis to help patients throughout Addenbrooke's.

Radio Addenbrooke's. Radio Addenbrooke's is always pleased to hear from new volunteers who would like to help expand and improve the service. They are particularly interested in people who communicate well with people of all ages and feel that they would enjoy speaking with patients. Any journalistic, presentation or technical skills would also be useful but experience in these areas is not required. Volunteers for Radio Addenbrooke´s start by collecting radio requests from patients on the wards and can, after suitable training, help with the running of the radio shows.

Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Huntingdon

Hinchingbrooke Hospital Radio has been operating for more than 25 years. With financial help from the Friends of Hinchingbrooke Hospital the station has completed a major refit of the studio, with modern equipment, capable of delivering an enhanced service to all its listeners. Volunteers are welcome.

Hinchingbrooke Hospital Volunteers. There are around 400 people who come to the hospital and freely give their time and energy to help provide a comfortable environment for patients. Both the directions desk and the information office are staffed by volunteers, while dog owners come to visit patients and provide Pets As Therapy on the wards. Other local people who like to give their time visit the wards with the library trolley, talk to patients or help them to the chapel.
